Mm mm mm mm....

...Made it to Maui!! After 20 long hours of traveling, Casey picked me up at the airport, and 15 minutes later I had a Manic 5.0 rigged on a Pocket 85 at Kanaha! Unbelievable!! Nothing like some wind and crystal blue water to wash off the airplane funk!

Casey gave me a quick tour- we briefly hit uppers, and then shot down to lowers and joined the crowd for a few waves. Nothing epic, pretty onshore and garbled, but a heck of a lot of fun!! No complaints from me, that's for sure!!

I'm writing this from the back porch of the unbelievable pad I'm staying at. Truly beautiful, simple, idyllic. More on the digs later. Right now I just want to mention the sound of the breeze rustling the tree tops, and the smells of lush vegetation and fruit trees wafting through the air. Perfect!!

Awesome Andy. I'm guessing you'll wake up around 3.30 am Hawaiin time as you wont beable to sleep much past 9.30-10am east coast time.

I remember the first time we went to Maui. I know how you're feeling. Wide eyed amazement of a child. You have so much to see and do and we are so happy for you to see the place we call our second home. You so deserve this trip! You will forever be changed. Today, we are snowed in. What a contrast.

Vicarious living here while it is cold, cloudy, though windy today on the OBX! I was out last night with Dimitri and Tony V, and they talked about heading out to Hawaii next week! Tony's got the free airfare with the airline gig, and Dimitri, well its a "business trip" for him. I just sat there at Mama Kwans and thought, man... I want to go too?!!

Oh well, next year for sure!

Enjoy it out there! Hey if you end up in west maui anytime during your trip, definitely try to find this place for some excellent lunch. Its caliber is up there with Mamma's Fish House, only its served with paper and plastic.

Dude you got out just in time - we got almost a foot of snow last night so I've been in my mom's house all day trying to keep warm! Enjoy the warm weather and wetsuitless riding! See you when you get back.

As already mentioned here...you're one lucky guy to have gotten out. Major storm snarling air traffic now. So did you bring your own gear or are u renting? Enjoy!

Yeah i was watching that forecast pretty closely in the days leading up to the flight... especially since I was flying through Chicago... But all went well, and the skies were clear. Barely even a bump of turbulence and we showed up right on time!

Stay warm out there fellas, spring is right around the corner!
