i notice your boom height is quite a bit higher than id normally use, just wondering the advantage/disadvantages of different boom heights?

thanks, kevin

Hey Kevin- good question- Generally speaking, the higher boom helps me create Mast Base Pressure by allowing me to hang down off the boom more easily than with a low boom. MBP is really important for me because I tend to use really small fins, so my weight really has to hang off the mast base more than my feet, or else I'd just go sideways all the time.

A high boom also affords more control over the rig. And for freestyle and wave sailing, the high boom helps me get in over the board, making bottom turns and tricks and stuff much easier.

So basically, high boom = early planing and control. Low boom = less control but probably more straight line speed.

Hope that helps!

Ya know what I don't like about harness line length generally? In my experience the lines sold are not of uniform length (ie I can select three sets of DaKine 22" lines, and no two pair will be the same length...it's more like +- 1")

This is irritating. The next time I go to purchase new lines I'm going to bring an old line with me as a reference.
